Charlottesville Area Build your dream home in the Charlottesville
area.
About the Charlottesville Area:
Over the years, community leaders have done much to preserve the natural character
and beauty of Charlottesville. The area is indelibly marked by the character
of Thomas Jefferson, who built his home, Monticello, on a hill overlooking
the town and who founded and designed the University of Virginia. Each year
the Charlottesville region attracts thousands of tourists who come to admire
his handiwork, to visit the homes of his neighbors James Madison and James
Monroe, and to enjoy the vistas from Skyline Drive, just twenty miles west
atop the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Home to the University of Virginia:
The Charlottesville area enjoys all the advantages of being home to one of
the nations most prestigious academic institutions - the University of Virginia.
The University hospital, supported by a medical school consistently ranked
in the top ten in the nation, is a first rate facility. Sports fans in the
area enjoy the intense rivalry and high quality of play for which the ACC
is famous.
An Active Community, Rich in Tradition:
The Charlottesville community features art galleries, several theater troupes,
a community symphony orchestra, a light opera company, and a host of instrumental
and vocal groups. The community welcomes springtime with a week-long Dogwood
Festival and brings in the new year with First Night Virginia, which is celebrated
in the historic downtown area. Steeplechase fans tailgate at the Foxfield
races. As soon as the forsythia bloom, downtown restaurants set tables along
the brick pedestrian mall. Each day at lunch, lawyers and bankers, city planners
and graphic artists mingle and dine beneath a canopy of trees.
